Enhancing Core Teaching Skills with Technology

A Little About Me

I am Matt Lawton. I teach at the Port Allegany Sr./Jr. High School in the Port Allegany School District. I teach Seventh and Tenth Grade English. I also teach various electives. I enjoy using technology in my classroom. I feel that I will always be playing catch up because when I get comfortable with something, something else comes along. It is all fine with me though because it keeps me working and learning. The past couple of years, since I have decided to jump right on this technology bandwagon, has been a rejuvinating to me. I have had a lot of fun. I also enjoy reading, video games, running and soccer.

Introduction to my ePortfolio

My ePortfolio includes all of the work from the class. Most of the work was quite applicable to what I was doing in the classroom. The ePortfolio also includes my integration plan. The plan, honestly, has been an ongoing process throughout the course. The plan is in place and my students are utilizing the class wikis as a portal to all of the work that we are using. In regards to the NETS, this is always a work in progress. There are always ways to make teaching better and more motivating for the students. And really, it seems the job becomes more and more a process of motivating students to achieve.

My goal(s)

I scored a two across the board on my survey. What that says to me is that I am still a novice at this. There are some things that I work with on multiple occasions and there are some things that I need to work on. My goal for the course is to incorporate a working wiki for all of my classes. By the end of this class, I want my students to walk into my classroom, open their netbook and log onto their wiki.

As stated in my reflection in my introduction, I am quite happy with the outcome. I believe my students use the class wikis as a portal for my class.

My Integration Plan

I hope my intergration plan expresses the activities that I used and completed for this course. Ideally, go to my classroom wikis (Grade 7 and Grade 10) to see what was accomplished.
